The Search for our Favorite Manhattan

We’ve been searching for our favorite Manhattan for longer than most of you have been alive. Every once in awhile, we find something particularly special. We’ve collected a number of recipes and have been modifying them to our tastes.

This recipe started with a video that Whistle Pig posted. They used Whistle Pig 6-yr Piggyback, but we have a taste for the 10-yr, thus resulting in the first modification.

The Carpano Classico is a really nice Vermouth—it’s actually fairly enjoyable chilled. To our tastebuds, it’s a bit too sweet for a truly inspired Manhattan. The original Whistle Pig recipe called for a full ounce of the Carpano, resulting in a real crowd pleaser. However, we are not the usual crowd.

Cutting back to ha half-ounce of Vermouth may not even make this count as an actual Manhattan, but it’s still pretty darned delicious! Stay tuned for more variations, moving forward!
